GEOPOLITICS KEEPS THE MARKET ON ITS TOES

🟡 Neutral — yields down, but anxiety has increased

The main variable of the day is the headlines out of the Middle East: against this backdrop, the market is simultaneously reaching for “defense” and getting nervous. U.S. yields declined noticeably (10-year 3.97%, -5 bps on the day; 2-year 3.38%, -4 bps), which usually makes life easier for risk assets, but the VIX rose to 19.86 — market participants are still pricing in a premium for uncertainty. The dollar, meanwhile, is barely moving and remains at one of its weakest levels in recent months — that’s supportive, but with the risk of a sharp rebound on a new round of escalation.

In crypto, the picture is a “restrained bounce amid fear”: BTC around $68,110 (down -1.8% on the day, but up +6.2% on the week), while sentiment remains in the extreme fear zone (14 points), though it has improved compared to yesterday. BTC dominance has ticked up — the market still prefers “quality” over alts. On ETFs, the week looks strong (about +$710M over 7 days), but the daily flow is still negative (about -$28M), so the recovery so far looks more fragile and news-dependent than a sustainable turn; versus yesterday, macro has softened thanks to the drop in yields, but the geopolitical risk hasn’t gone anywhere.

WHAT TO WATCH

1) Geopolitical headlines: right now they move the dollar, oil, and crypto the fastest.
2) NFP on Friday (in 3 days): strong data could bring back pressure via the dollar/yields.
3) BTC-ETF inflow dynamics: a shift to sustained daily inflows is needed, otherwise the rise will come in “spurts”.
