Risk OffTRADE WAR
🔴 Negative — trade-war headlines hit a market with weaker liquidity and incomplete confirmation.
The critical driver is the deepening trade-war story while US markets are shut. Yesterday I expected a calm-recovery confirmation only if BTC held $64k, ETF flows turned back to strong inflows and S&P confirmed after the US open. Today we have only the first leg: BTC is still holding, but the ETF and equity tests are unresolved; the last BTC ETF print, updated before the weekend, was a $240M outflow.
The turn is in liquidity, not spot price. The net-liquidity gauge, last updated two days ago, showed a drain beyond the one-percent risk threshold; that is enough to change the setup from quiet rebound to fragile hold. BTC volatility remains compressed at 28.1%, so the market is coiled rather than cleared.
Rates are not fresh because Treasury markets are closed, but their last prints were near the top of recent ranges, so they remain a hurdle until the next cash session. The fresh speculative contrast is sharp: ETH milestone odds jumped to 30.5%, while BTC-to-100k odds sit at 0.1%. That is rotation, not broad confirmation.
WHAT TO WATCH
1) BTC must hold $64k through the first liquid US session; a sustained break below it would confirm that the liquidity drain is starting to matter.
2) The next BTC ETF update must show a net inflow; another outflow, especially near Friday’s $240M, would confirm institutional caution.
3) After US cash markets reopen, S&P must get back above 7,458 while the 10-year yield avoids a fresh push above 4.71%; failure in both would keep the risk-off bias in control.
