GEOPOLITICS

🟡 Negative — sanctions and Iran headlines hit equities, while BTC has not reclaimed 64,000.

Geopolitics is still the driver: the Senate sanctions push against Russia and the Iranian missile headlines are active enough to keep risk appetite fragile. Equities took the hit, with the S&P 500 down about 1.5%, while BTC is not panicking but remains pinned just under 64,000. Yesterday I expected either a BTC reclaim plus ETF improvement to cancel the correction signal, or another failure plus ETF outflows to keep correction as the base case; we got a split decision — BTC failed to reclaim, but BTC ETFs flipped to an inflow, so the warning is weaker, not gone.

The macro tape is partly frozen, so the last dollar, yield and VIX marks should not be treated as fresh daily moves. The last available rates backdrop is still restrictive, and today’s PCE is the cleaner test: if it lifts the front end while BTC stays below support, the small ETF improvement will look like noise.

SCENARIOS: cooler PCE plus a BTC reclaim would put the market back into consolidation. A hot print, higher short-end yields and no BTC reclaim would keep correction risk elevated. The memorable hook is volatility: BTC’s 30-day realized volatility is down to 26.8%, a quiet tape that can make the next data shock travel farther than spot is implying.

WHAT TO WATCH

1) PCE reaction: 2-year yields above 4.26% with BTC below 64,000 → correction pressure persists; BTC back above 64,000 with yields not rising → consolidation can resume.
2) ETF confirmation: another positive daily BTC ETF print would challenge the bearish flow story; a return to outflows while the 7-day total remains negative near 495M would restore institutional-pressure risk.
3) Stablecoin stress: market cap below 301.8B plus USDT below 0.9985 → internal liquidity is worsening; stabilization above both levels lowers the risk of a crypto-specific squeeze.
