NeutralBTC COMPRESSION
🟡 Neutral — yesterday’s reversal test passed, but breadth is still thin.
Yesterday I expected confirmation only if BTC held 64k and the next BTC ETF update stayed positive — got both: price is still above 64k and daily ETF flow was +$107.8m. That keeps the rebound alive, but not clean. Weekly ETF flow is still -$140.6m, BTC is flat after the bounce, and sentiment remains on the fear edge, so the market has stopped selling rather than turned broadly bullish.
The main driver is compression: BTC volatility is down to 29%, a calm reading for the recent window. DeFi is firm and stablecoin supply has stopped falling, but it remains near recent lows; the cash base is not yet confirming a durable risk-on move.
Macro is noisy but not decisive. The fresh news mix is softer U.S. inflation and bond traders dropping July hike bets, offset by Fed no-tolerance rhetoric on high inflation and new U.S. tariff headlines. Key dollar, yield and VIX indicators are stale, so I would not treat them as fresh confirmation. Prediction markets still price a Fed cut at only 0.5%, which says the inflation relief is not yet an easing story.
WHAT TO WATCH
1) BTC holding above 64k while the next BTC ETF flow is positive → the rebound remains valid; a BTC close below 64k with ETF outflows → yesterday’s confirmation fails.
2) BTC volatility moving back above 30% while BTC stays above 64k → compression likely resolves higher; volatility above 30% with BTC below 64k → the break likely resolves lower.
3) Stablecoin market cap above $303bn and DeFi TVL above $75bn → crypto breadth improves; stablecoins below $302bn while weekly ETF flow remains negative → the rebound stays narrow.
