Gas on Robinhood Chain is ETH, and as of 17 September 2026 Robinhood has announced no network token, no airdrop and no points programme. HOOD is the company's stock ticker, Stock Tokens are a separate product, and the LIT points belong to Lighter.
Gas on Robinhood Chain is ETH
The documentation names the gas asset in one line: "Robinhood Chain uses ETH as its native gas token". The connecting page says the same about the network as a whole — "an Arbitrum Layer-2 Chain built on Ethereum, using Ethereum blobs for data availability and ETH as the native gas token".
A transaction fee there "has two components: L2 execution fee … L1 data fee — the cost of posting your transaction's data to Ethereum for data availability". Both are paid in ETH. How ETH gets into a wallet there: the Robinhood Chain bridge.
No network token, airdrop or points from Robinhood
As of 17 September 2026 the official sources carry no announcement of a network token, an airdrop or a points programme from Robinhood. Those sources are the 24 pages of the chain documentation, including its terms of service; the newsroom feed, entries dated 22 July to 16 September 2026 at the time of the check; and the support article on the mainnet launch. The phrase "native gas token" appears in them only about ETH.
The words "Robinhood Token" do appear — in the names of Stock Tokens in the asset API, as in "Everpure • Robinhood Token". That is how a tokenised security is named, not the chain's own asset.
HOOD is a stock ticker
HOOD is the ticker of the company's shares on Nasdaq. The launch press release identifies the issuer as "Robinhood Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOOD)" — a listed company. Gas on the chain is ETH.
The network and the brokerage account are separate things. The support article on the mainnet states that Robinhood Chain is "Not connected to your Robinhood brokerage or crypto accounts" and "operates independently of the main Robinhood app and doesn't affect your investments, crypto balances, or portfolio".
Stock Tokens are not a network token
Stock Tokens are, in the words of the documentation, "tokenised debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited". They provide "economic exposure to underlying securities like US shares and ETFs, but does not grant investors any legal or beneficial rights in, or against the issuer of, those underlying securities". Each one is "a standard ERC-20 contract with 18 decimals", and prices "are published onchain via per-asset Chainlink data feeds".
So a Stock Token is an issuer's instrument that lives on the chain, and moving one still costs ETH for gas. The product is closed to part of the world: the restricted jurisdictions page lists prohibited investors in "Cuba, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Ukraine, South Sudan, Sudan, Myanmar, and Venezuela", a list that "may be subject to change", and the launch press release states: "Stock Tokens are not available in the US or to US persons and are subject to restrictions in other jurisdictions, including without limitation Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, UAE, and sanctioned jurisdictions."
How the product is built, from the tokenisation window to the multiplier: Robinhood Stock Tokens. Tokenised shares across the market: tokenised stocks.
Lighter's LIT programme
Points around the network do exist, and they are Lighter's. Lighter is a perpetual futures venue, listed under Perps in the ecosystem section of the documentation. The launch press release: "Lighter has committed 11 million $LIT tokens to the Robinhood community. Eligible users earn points on perpetual futures trades on Lighter — 2x when trading through Robinhood Wallet, 1x when trading on Lighter's web application —which convert directly into $LIT from that pool, subject to Lighter's terms."
The programme, the points and the token are Lighter's, on Lighter's terms. The ecosystem page itself states that "Inclusion on this page does not constitute an endorsement, partnership, affiliation, sponsorship, or warranty by Robinhood". The same press release adds that "Perpetuals trading is only available to eligible clients in permitted jurisdictions and is not available to residents of the U.K., US, Canada, Switzerland, UAE, Singapore, and other restricted jurisdictions".
The fake mascot token of 23 July 2026
On 23 July 2026 a post from the X account of Robinhood's chief executive, Vlad Tenev, promoted "a token called Vladhood ($VLAD) as the 'official Robinhood chain mascot'" and claimed it would be available in the Robinhood app. The account had been compromised, as CoinDesk reported that day, quoting the company: "Our CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was compromised and posted a fake promotion for a meme coin. We're working with X to restore access and the post has been removed."
Where to check a token claim
Three surfaces belong to Robinhood itself: the newsroom, the documentation at docs.robinhood.com/chain, and the token contracts page. That page carries the rule for tickers: "Use the addresses on this page to identify the canonical Robinhood Stock Token for each underlying — a token with a matching name/ticker but a different contract address is not a Robinhood Stock Token." Its Stock Token table "is generated live from the on-chain asset registry", and the same registry is served as an API at api.robinhood.com/rhj/assets.
