Circle: digital dollars, payments and the CRCL business

Circle issues USDC and EURC through its regulated affiliates and builds services for moving those assets. Individuals use the stablecoins through wallets, exchanges and apps; businesses can integrate issuance, crosschain transfers and payments. CRCL is Circle Internet Group’s Class A stock on the NYSE.

Three ways to put a dollar to work

Issuing USDC, moving an existing balance to another chain and spending from a funded crosschain balance start with different assets and use different products.

Bank money ↔ USDC

  1. 01An eligible institution funds Circle Mint
  2. 02Circle issues USDC to the selected supported chain
  3. 03Redeem USDC and receive bank dollars

Mint connects institutional bank accounts with Circle-issued assets. An approved business can issue and redeem USDC or EURC. Individuals obtain these assets through exchanges and other providers.

USDC on chain A → chain B

  1. 01Burn native USDC on the source chain
  2. 02Receive Circle’s attestation of the burn
  3. 03Mint native USDC on the destination chain

CCTP moves an existing USDC amount between supported chains without a bridge liquidity pool. The receiving chain gets native USDC. Fast and Standard Transfer offer different timing and costs.

Fund once, spend across chains

  1. 01Deposit USDC in Gateway Wallet contracts
  2. 02Wait for the deposit to enter the unified balance
  3. 03Sign a burn intent and mint on a supported destination

Gateway combines funded USDC deposits into one spendable balance. Crosschain access follows the user’s signature and a Gateway attestation. Each supported asset has its own balance; Gateway does not exchange dollars for euros. A direct withdrawal from its Wallet contract can be completed after seven days without the Gateway API.

Tools for payments, treasury and applications

A payment provider needs a settlement route; a treasury team needs issuance or productive collateral; an app developer needs wallets and asset movement. Circle supplies different products for these jobs.

Issue and redeem institutional balances

Circle Mint

Circle Mint connects a verified business account to bank rails and supported blockchains. It handles USDC, EURC and cirBTC through a web interface or APIs.

Connect payment institutions

Circle Payments Network

Circle Payments Network connects banks, fintechs and payment providers for stablecoin settlement. Participating institutions and payout partners deliver funds to recipients in stablecoins or local currency.

Hold tokenized fund shares

USYC

USYC represents shares in the Hashnote International Short Duration Fund. Treasury-bill and repo income accrues through the token’s price. Access is for eligible non-U.S. persons, with a $100 000 investment minimum.

Use BTC-backed collateral

cirBTC

cirBTC is backed one-for-one by BTC and is live on Arc. It brings a representation of bitcoin into smart-contract markets, with reserves that can be checked onchain.

Settle a currency exchange

StableFX

StableFX connects counterparties exchanging supported currency stablecoins. Payment-versus-payment settlement completes both currency legs together onchain.

Embed wallets in an app

Circle Wallets

Circle Wallets supplies wallet infrastructure for developers. Applications can add asset storage, payments and transaction controls within their own experience.

A payment balance, a fund share and a company share

These assets give their holders different claims and uses. The product’s name determines what is held and how it can be redeemed.

USDC · EURC

Pay and settle in dollars or euros

USDC targets one dollar and EURC one euro, backed by the corresponding fiat reserves. USDC’s reserve interest belongs to the issuer’s business; holding the stablecoin itself does not pay that interest to the wallet.

USYC

Earn through a fund position

USYC is a tokenized money-market fund. Its price reflects accrued yield; subscription and redemption use USDC. Access and redemption capacity follow the fund’s terms.

NYSE · CRCL

Own Circle Internet Group stock

CRCL identifies Class A company shares, carrying one vote per share. Tokenized products referencing CRCL have their own issuers and terms; Yieldo groups them by the same underlying stock.

Reserves generate income; distribution has a cost

The assets backing stablecoins earn interest and dividends. Circle records that reserve income before paying distribution partners. Subscription, transaction and other service revenues add a separate stream.

Interest and dividends on reserve assets

Reserve assets → income → distribution and Circle

Cash and cash-equivalent reserves back stablecoin redemption. Interest and dividends on those assets become reserve income. Commercial agreements allocate payments to distributors, including Coinbase and Binance; Circle also funds its operations from company revenue.

Remaining revenue supports operations and contributes to company earnings

Read revenue and profit at different stages

Circle’s Q2 2026 report provides a dated example of how its business converts reserve income into company earnings.

Q2 2026

Revenue and reserve income: $701 million

Reserve income contributed about $668 million; other revenue about $34 million. Figures in the report are rounded.

DISTRIBUTION

$289 million after distribution, transaction and other costs

Those costs totalled about $412 million. The remainder, called RLDC, still precedes operating expenses and other items.

EARNINGS

Net income: about $48 million

Company earnings include operating expenses, other income and taxes. The amount of stablecoins in circulation and returns on their reserves both affect the business.

Arc is Circle’s blockchain platform

Arc mainnet launched on 16 September 2026. Its network and applications connect with Circle’s existing assets and transfer services.

USDC GAS

Pay network fees in digital dollars

Arc uses USDC for native gas. Its network identity, wallet setup and applications are covered in the Arc hub.

CONNECTED

Move value into Arc

CCTP and Gateway connect supported chains with Arc. A transfer route and an app’s accepted asset determine where a balance can be used.

APPLICATIONS

Use assets inside financial apps

Arc brings USDC, EURC, tokenized funds and BTC-backed collateral into markets for payments, lending and trading. Each application sets its own actions and terms.

Start with the task you need to complete

For a personal USDC balance, choose a wallet or exchange supporting the receiving network. For direct institutional issuance, use Mint. For an application, choose a transfer or payment integration.

PERSONAL

Obtain and send USDC

Use an exchange or app, choose the receiving service’s supported token and network, and keep the network’s gas asset when sending from your own wallet.

BUSINESS

Apply for Circle Mint

Mint is for eligible institutions. Business verification and supported-jurisdiction requirements apply; direct minting and redemption use the account’s supported bank and asset routes.

BUILD

Choose an integration

Use CCTP for a chain-to-chain transfer, Gateway for a funded unified balance, CPN for institutional payment connectivity or Wallets for an app’s wallet experience.

Practical questions

1What is CRCL?

CRCL is the NYSE ticker for Circle Internet Group’s Class A common stock. USDC is the company’s dollar stablecoin. Tokenized CRCL instruments are separate products referencing the stock.

2Does holding USDC earn Circle’s reserve interest?

USDC itself pays no interest to its holders. Reserve interest contributes to Circle’s business income. USYC is a separate tokenized fund whose yield accrues through its token price.

3Can an individual open Circle Mint?

Mint is offered to eligible institutions following business verification. Individuals can obtain and exchange USDC through wallets, exchanges and other providers.

4How do CCTP and Gateway differ?

CCTP burns native USDC on one chain and mints it on another after attestation. Gateway starts with deposits in its Wallet contracts, combines them into a spendable balance and uses a signed intent to make the asset available on a supported destination.

5Does Gateway convert USDC into EURC?

Gateway maintains a separate unified balance for each supported asset. It moves that asset across supported chains. Currency conversion uses a separate exchange or FX service.

6What is the relationship between Circle and Arc?

Arc is a blockchain platform launched by Circle. It uses USDC for gas and integrates Circle assets, CCTP and Gateway. Circle’s other products also serve networks beyond Arc.

7Where does Circle’s revenue come from?

Most revenue currently comes from interest and dividends on stablecoin reserves. Circle also earns subscription, transaction and other service revenue, and pays distribution partners under commercial agreements.
