Build a Crypto Portfolio From a Screenshot — No API Keys, No Seed Phrases

Written by Yieldo Team ·

Most portfolio trackers ask you for something risky before they show you a single number: an exchange API key, a seed phrase, or a full CSV export. This guide shows a different path — how to build a crypto portfolio from a screenshot of any major exchange balance screen, without ever generating a key or connecting a wallet. Snap the balance page in your exchange app, upload it into Yieldo, and 30 seconds later you have a live portfolio that also tells you where each coin earns the most and where it moves the cheapest.

Yieldo is a Telegram-native tracker used by 900+ monthly active traders. It supports 8 major centralized exchanges and 2 decentralized venues out of the box, and the screenshot flow was built specifically for people who refuse to hand over API keys to any third party. Last updated: 03 August 2026.

What Yieldo does with your screenshot in 30 seconds

The whole point of a screenshot import is that it collapses portfolio setup into one action. You skip account linking, OAuth, IP whitelists, and the "create a read-only API key with these exact permissions" walkthrough that other trackers require. Instead, Yieldo runs the image through a vision pipeline tuned specifically for exchange balance screens, matches the tickers against a whitelist of listed coins, and emits a structured list of holdings.

The 3-step flow: upload → recognize → live prices

The pipeline is intentionally short. First, you take a screenshot of your Assets or Wallet page. Second, you send it into the Yieldo Portfolio Scanner — either from the web page or straight from the Telegram Mini App. Third, Yieldo parses the tickers, amounts and USD values, then attaches live prices from its own CEX and DEX feeds so total value, P&L and per-asset allocation stay current without another upload.

Zero setup — no API keys, no seed phrases, no CSV

A screenshot is a read-only snapshot. It cannot trade, cannot withdraw, and cannot log into your account. Compare that to an API key — even a read-only key exposes your account ID, trade history and sometimes IP-level metadata to whoever holds it, and you have to keep rotating it. A seed phrase, meanwhile, is a total-loss risk. The screenshot path deliberately gives up automation in exchange for cutting that surface area to zero.

Why screenshots beat API keys for most users

The average retail holder does not need real-time exchange sync — they need to know what they own, where it sits, and whether it is earning. A screenshot delivers exactly that in a single tap, without asking them to trust a third-party service with credentials.

The hidden risks of exchange API keys

Read-only API keys look innocent, and mostly they are, but they carry three real costs. First, key generation itself is friction: most first-time users abandon the process when they hit the "whitelist your IP, confirm 2FA, enable specific permissions" screens. Second, the tracker now stores a persistent credential that can be leaked in a breach; historical incidents have exposed millions of read-only keys. Third, exchanges routinely rotate or invalidate keys during security events, which silently breaks the tracker until you re-issue and re-paste. See our multi-exchange tracking guide for a broader comparison of import methods.

Privacy angle — read-only snapshot vs live-connected key

An API-key tracker knows every position you hold, every trade you execute, and every deposit you receive, forever. A screenshot tracker knows only what you show it on the day you show it. If you close the app and never open it again, there is nothing to unsubscribe from and no residual metadata being harvested. For privacy-conscious holders — especially in jurisdictions with unpredictable regulation — that difference matters more than the loss of auto-refresh.

When API keys still make sense

Screenshots are not a universal answer. If you are an active trader running dozens of positions a week and rebalancing continuously, an API-key integration will keep your dashboard fresher than any manual upload. Tax reporting also usually needs full transaction history, which only API or CSV imports can provide. The screenshot flow is optimized for holders and semi-active users — people who look at their portfolio a few times a week, not every 15 minutes.

Which exchanges and wallets are supported

Yieldo does not rely on generic OCR. The vision model is specifically trained on the balance-page layouts of the exchanges we integrate, which is why extracted numbers are usable rather than approximate.

Centralized exchanges (8 CEX): Binance, Bybit, OKX, MEXC, Bitget, Gate.io, KuCoin, BingX

The eight CEX in coverage are exactly the ones whose live staking, funding and fee data feeds the rest of the Yieldo product: Binance, Bybit, OKX, MEXC, Bitget, Gate.io, KuCoin, and BingX. Both mobile and desktop balance pages are recognized, in light and dark themes, and the parser handles Spot, Funding and Earn tabs on most of them.

Decentralized: STON.fi (TON) and Jupiter (Solana)

For DEX exposure, screenshots from STON.fi (TON network) and Jupiter (Solana) are supported. That is useful for users who hold liquidity positions or swap balances on those venues and want a single view alongside their CEX holdings.

TON wallets and on-chain positions

For pure on-chain balances, a public wallet address is almost always more accurate than a screenshot — the address updates in real time and does not need re-uploading after each transaction. Screenshots shine for CEX balances, where there is no public address to share. See the TON wallet portfolio guide for how the two data sources merge into a single view.

How to build a portfolio from a screenshot — step by step

The full flow takes under a minute. What follows is the same 5-step sequence Yieldo runs internally, described from your point of view.

  1. Take a clean screenshot of your exchange balance. Open the Assets or Wallet page on the exchange app (Spot balance is the safest starting point). Make sure coin tickers, amounts and USD values are visible. Crop out personal fields like email or UID — Yieldo does not need them, and cropping shortens the parsing surface.
  2. Open the Yieldo Portfolio Scanner. Launch the scanner in Telegram Mini App via t.me/YieldoBot/app?startapp=scan, or open the web scanner page. There is no signup, no wallet connection, no API key setup. If you already use Yieldo for staking or fee data, the scanner sits under the same profile.
  3. Upload the screenshot. Attach the image as PNG or JPG. The vision model identifies the exchange layout, extracts coin tickers, amounts and USD values in 5 to 15 seconds, and returns a review table. You can queue multiple screenshots from different exchanges one after another to build a merged portfolio.
  4. Review and fix the parsed portfolio. A table appears with detected coins, amounts, and the exchange source. Confirm each row, edit any misread ticker or amount manually, and remove noise like dust rows or non-crypto entries. Locked, Earn and staking sub-balances sometimes need a second screenshot of that specific page — merge is automatic.
  5. Save and act on the results. Save the portfolio to your Yieldo profile. Live prices refresh continuously so total USD value and P&L stay up to date. The next screen shows optimization opportunities — where each holding earns a higher APY, and which withdrawal routes are cheapest between exchanges.

Existing screenshot-based tools such as Trade Snap and Ellipse AI focus on PnL screenshots or basic balance capture — none of them layer cross-exchange yield and fee optimization on top. Yieldo is the first tracker to combine CEX and DEX balance scanning with cross-exchange yield and fee optimization in one pipeline — which is exactly what the widget below illustrates. After parsing, the platform highlights each coin where your current exchange is on a worse rate than the market leader, with an estimated monthly gain per $1,000.

Accuracy and limits — what OCR sees and what it misses

Vision-based portfolio import is powerful but not magic. Knowing where it slips helps you produce screenshots the parser can read cleanly.

Coins, symbols, amounts, USD value — what is reliable

For legible screenshots of Spot balances on the eight supported CEX, ticker and amount recognition is essentially deterministic. The parser cross-checks tickers against a whitelist of listed coins from top exchanges and CoinGecko top-N, which eliminates almost all confusion between visually similar characters (like 1 vs l, or 0 vs O). USD values are extracted but not blindly trusted — after parsing, Yieldo recomputes them from its own live price feed, so what you see is always the current mark, not a snapshot from whenever you took the screenshot.

Locked/earn/staking sub-balances — quirks by exchange

Every exchange formats Locked, Earn and staking positions differently. Some fold them into the main Spot row as a sub-total (Bybit, OKX). Others push them onto a separate Earn or Financial page (MEXC, Bitget). If your portfolio includes staked positions, snap the Earn/Finance page as a second screenshot — Yieldo merges by coin plus exchange, so nothing gets double-counted. Funding-wallet balances need the same treatment on venues that separate Spot from Funding.

Micro-balances, exotic tickers, obscured screenshots

Three edge cases pull accuracy down. First, micro-balances rendered in scientific notation (1.23e-8) sometimes parse but are almost always dust — safe to strip. Second, tickers of newly listed or niche coins that never made it to CoinGecko may need manual entry. Third, cropped or partial screenshots only reveal what is visible: for long balance lists use a full-page scroll screenshot from your operating system, not a partial screen grab.

What to do after your portfolio is built

A parsed portfolio is the starting point, not the deliverable. Yieldo is the only screenshot-based tracker that immediately links each holding to its highest-yield venue and cheapest transfer route — the value is in what you do with the data, not just seeing it.

Find where each coin earns the highest APY

Once your holdings are recognized, jump into the live staking APY table to see where the same coin is currently earning most. Stablecoin holders in particular should compare rates — USDT staking, for example, routinely spreads several percentage points between the highest- and lowest-paying CEX, and Yieldo currently indexes rates like 11.00% flexible on MEXC and 1.69% flexible on Bybit. The widget below is a live snapshot of the top rates across all supported exchanges.

Coin Best APR Exchange Type Action
BTC Bitcoin 8.00% MEXC Flexible Stake Now
ETH Ethereum 8.00% MEXC Flexible Stake Now
USDT Tether 100.00% Gate.io Fixed Stake Now
USDC USDC 10.00% MEXC Flexible Stake Now
SOL Solana 10.00% BingX Fixed Stake Now

Route optimizer: cheapest way to move assets

If the optimizer suggests moving USDT or ETH between exchanges, the next question is always: what does the transfer cost, and which network is cheapest? Yieldo maintains a real-time cheapest-fees table that ranks every withdrawal network across the eight supported CEX. For deeper mechanics — TRC-20 vs BEP-20 vs Arbitrum vs Base — read the how to transfer crypto between exchanges guide. And before actually moving funds, weigh whether the yield gain justifies the friction: our should you move crypto explainer walks through the break-even math.

Rebalancing checklist

Before you act on any optimization suggestion, run through a short sanity check:

  • Does the higher-APY venue support the network you want to withdraw on?
  • Is the fee difference between exchanges lower than the annualized yield uplift over your intended holding period?
  • Are the higher rates flexible or locked — and does the lock match your liquidity needs?
  • Is the destination exchange currently accepting deposits on that specific network? Networks freeze routinely.

Privacy and data handling at Yieldo

Because the whole appeal of the screenshot flow is that it lowers your data-sharing surface, it is worth being explicit about what Yieldo does and does not keep.

Screenshots are processed, not stored

Privacy: your screenshot is processed in memory and discarded after parsing — Yieldo does not store balance screenshots. What is saved is structured JSON only: coin ticker, amount, source exchange. The image itself never lands in long-term storage and is never attached to any external identifier beyond your Telegram user ID.

What Yieldo never asks for

Yieldo will never ask you for a seed phrase, private key, exchange password, API key, or KYC document. There is no scenario in the product where any of those are required to build or view a portfolio. If any interface prompts you for one of them, treat it as a phishing attempt and report it.

Deleting your portfolio

Every parsed holding can be removed from your portfolio dashboard individually, or the entire portfolio can be wiped with one action. Deletion removes both the structured holding data and the association with your Telegram profile — there is no shadow copy retained for "analytics" or backup.

FAQ

Is it safe to upload a screenshot of my exchange balance?

Yes. A screenshot is a read-only snapshot — it cannot be used to withdraw, trade, or access your account. Unlike an API key, it has no access to your funds. We recommend cropping personal info such as email or UID before uploading, mostly for your own hygiene rather than any security requirement on our side.

Does Yieldo store my screenshot?

No. The image is processed in memory to extract coins and amounts, then discarded. Only the recognized portfolio data (coin, amount, exchange) is saved to your Yieldo profile, and you can delete it at any time from the portfolio dashboard.

Which exchanges are supported for screenshot import?

The scanner works with all 8 CEX we integrate — Binance, Bybit, OKX, MEXC, Bitget, Gate.io, KuCoin, BingX — and 2 DEX: STON.fi on TON and Jupiter on Solana. It also handles generic Assets tables from other exchanges as long as tickers are legible and the layout follows the standard Coin / Amount / USD Value pattern.

Can I track a wallet from a screenshot?

For on-chain holdings we recommend adding the wallet address directly — it is more accurate and updates in real time. Screenshots are the better choice for CEX balances, where you cannot share a public address without exposing the whole account.

What if the screenshot does not recognize all my coins?

You can edit rows, add missing coins manually, or upload a second screenshot showing scrolled-down positions. Locked, Earn and staking sub-balances sometimes need a separate screenshot of that specific page — the parser merges everything by coin plus exchange so nothing gets duplicated.

How is this different from API-key portfolio trackers?

API trackers require you to generate a key on every exchange, trust the tracker with those keys, and re-issue them on rotation. Screenshot import is one-tap, needs no credentials, and gives you full control — the trade-off is that data does not auto-refresh from the exchange side, so you re-upload when you want a fresh snapshot.

Do I need to connect a wallet or complete KYC to use Yieldo?

No. The Yieldo Portfolio Scanner works without a wallet connection, without KYC, and without an account beyond your Telegram profile. Wallet connect is optional and only used for on-chain positions where a public address is more accurate than a screenshot.
