Asset profile

GMX is the governance and participation token of GMX, a platform for swaps and perpetual futures: contracts that track asset prices without an expiry date. A holder participates by depositing GMX through Earn on Arbitrum. The deposit provides voting power that can be used directly or delegated; a participant's weight in the reward programme depends on the amount deposited and how long it remains deposited. The programme allocates part of trading fees to GMX purchases for rewards. Distributions are currently paused: tokens accumulate in the treasury, and the documentation ties their distribution to GMX reaching $90. GMX available for withdrawal can be returned to the wallet through Unstake. If the combined deposited balance of GMX and the legacy reward token esGMX falls below 80% of its historical peak, accumulated reward-programme weight resets. Voting power decreases with the amount withdrawn. Providing liquidity is a separate activity: a user deposits assets into a pool, a shared reserve used to settle trades, and receives a GM position.
