Optimism develops the OP Stack, software for networks that process transactions on top of Ethereum. OP Mainnet is one of those networks and home to the OP governance token.
OP holders participate in the Token House, deciding on treasury matters, token issuance and community representatives, and can oppose protocol upgrades. They can vote directly or through a representative; standard delegation keeps OP in the holder’s wallet.
