Asset profile

AAVE is the governance token of Aave, a protocol where users lend crypto assets and borrow against collateral. AAVE holders vote on asset listings, market parameters, upgrades and the use of DAO funds. The DAO is the community that governs the protocol. Voting power depends on token balances on Ethereum and can be delegated to a chosen representative. Discussions take place on the Aave Governance forum, and voting is available through the Aave interface. To earn lending interest, a user separately supplies a supported asset to an Aave market: borrowers pay the interest, and market settings determine the lenders' and DAO's shares. AAVE also exists on other networks; the governance system described here uses balances on Ethereum.
